rts and Science undergrad Matthew Jordan has been named one of only two Rhode Scholars in Ontario. Matthew has taken many math and physics courses during his degree and plans to complete a PhD in mathematical physics at Oxford beginning next Fall. The Rhodes Schaorship will provide support for Matthew's studies at Oxford. Congratulations Matthew!

A heartfelt congratulations to all 20 undergraduates who attended the 2016 Canadian Undergraduate Physics Conference at Dalhousie this past weekend. Once again, our undergraduates put tremendous effort into their reserach talks and poster and their hard work has paid off. A number of our students walked away with awards.

McMaster students swept both the Astrophysics and Soft Condensed Matter/Biophysics category:

Astro:
1st - Michael Radica
2nd - Jen Scora
3rd - Jonathan Panuelos

Biophysics/Soft Condensed:
1st - Alex Dhaliwal
2nd (tie) - Kate Charlesworth, Adree Khondker

In the Quantum Condensed category:
1st - Cissy Suen

3rd - Kieran Doyle-Davis

Congrats to Lauren Smith on winning Validictorian at the spring convocation! Lauren is an iSci and physics grad and when asked by the Daily News, "What was the most important lesson you've learned so far?", Lauren replied, "That (almost) anything can be solved by using a Taylor series expansion."
