Girls in Science Day (GIS Day)
GIS Day was an outreach event aimed at tenth grade girls from area high-schools that has been succeeded by Elevate. Participants took part in science workshops, science demonstrations, toured research labs on campus, and heard a keynote presentation from a female faculty member in the Faculty of Science. The goal of GIS Day was to inspire more girls to take high school science classes, and to encourage those already doing so to remain in the STEM fields.
