Rob Thacker's research focuses on galaxy formation. He is primarily interested in the formation of disk systems and the dissipation and feedback processes that are involved in this phenomenon. He is currently investigating the role of feedback from supernovae heating on the interstellar medium (pseudo quiescent mode star formation) and with Scannapieco (Osservatorio Astrofisico di Arcetri) he is investigating the role of violent outflows from dwarf galaxies on pre-enrichment of the intergalactic medium. In the near future Rob Thacker hopes to combine these two research programs into a model with star-bursting and quiescent mode star formation.
