The Canadian Federal Government announced February 11, 2014 that TRIUMF, where our group does much of its research, would receive $222M over 5 years, starting in 2015. The announcement comes more than a year in advance of completion of TRIUMF’s current 5 year funding period, giving the laboratory considerable planning time before the start of the next funding cycle. This announcement also gives the laboratory a full year to obtain additional resources to further its research objectives which include the develop the ARIEL project which will as a first priority provide additional beam time for Beta-NMR. This is the first time in recent history that TRIUMF has received such early support for its research program and is a sign that research at the laboratory is highly regarded and an national priority.
