Meet the PI
Cécile Fradin
Dr. Fradin is a physicist by training, who was introduced to the wonders of soft materials during an undergraduate research internship spent playing with liquid crystals under the direction of Dr. Pat Cladis at Bell labs. She obtained a Ph.D. in Soft Condensed Matter studying liquid interfaces with Dr. Jean Daillant at the CEA in Saclay (France), and later turned to the study of still soft but now living things during her post-doctorate on nuclear transport in the group of Dr. Michael Elbaum at the Weizmann Institute of Science (Israel). She started her own group at McMaster University in November 2001, on a joint position between the department of Physics and Astronomy and the department of Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences.
