Annual Canadian Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics (CCUWiP)
This past weekend was the annual Canadian Conference for Undergraduate Women* in Physics (CCUWiP) held at the University of Regina. CCUWiP is a professional conference where delegates have the opportunity to present research, explore various careers, promote diversity in physics, and discuss mental health and LGBTQ+ issues. We would like to congratulate all attendees from McMaster with a special congratulations to Taren Ginter, supervisor Dr. Fiona McNeill, who won the top overall poster presentation for her poster “The Toxic Allure of White Lead Cosmetics: Analysis of Absorptive and Beautifying Properties of Laird’s Bloom of Youth”. Taren also won an outstanding oral presentation for her talk entitled “Stability and structure of fatty acid membranes” for her work with Dr. Maikel Rheinstadter. Wow! Well done, Taren!
*The conference was open to all undergraduate physics or engineering physics students who are members of equity-deserving groups.
