McMaster students win at 2020 Canadian Undergraduate Physics (virtual) Conference (CUPC)
The annual Candadian Undergraduate Physics Conference (CUPC) hosted by Western University took place November 5-8 2020. The conference this year was different than past years and was entirely virtual. However, in keeping with tradition, the McMaster contingent performed very well!
This year each sponsor was able to pick a winner. Congratulations to the winners from McMaster:
Dia Martinez Gracey SNOLab Best Oral Presentation AwardDia Martinez Gracey CAP Division for Gender Equity in Physics Best Poster AwardTelmah Lluka CITA Best Poster Award
In addition to Dia and Telmah we also had four other presenters, Sara Evans, Yasmeen El-Rayyes, Julia Azzi and Anastasia Afanassieva. Everyone worked hard and gave fabulous presentations. Well done and congrats to all!
We also had a number of students attend who did not present (including many 2nd years) and this is also really awesome. This is not something that was possible before and one of the benefits of the virtual conference.
The entire Department of Physics & Astronomy is very proud of our winners, our presenters, and all attendees. Thank you for representing our department on the national stage!
And as one last proud moment, we can’t help but notice that all six presenters from McMaster were women! Wow, great work and way to represent!! #WomenInSTEM
