Maikel Rheinstadter has recently been honored with the title of University Scholar.
Maikel was recognized for his work on cell membranes, particularly focusing on the study of trans-membrane proteins which are the first to be attacked by infectious diseases.
Maikel’s work includes the development of techniques which use the world’s most powerful in-house x-ray instrument dedicated to cell membrane research to study membrane embedded proteins under realistic physiological conditions. This understanding gained from these new techniques could lead to improved treatment for disease and the development of advanced materials and biosensors.
Congratulations Maikel!
