Title: Topological States in Condensed Matter Physics
Speaker: Dr. Hae-Young Kee

Description:
Recently, the word “topology” has become popular in condensed matter physics community. A few examples include topological insulators, topological superconductors, topological crystalline insulators, topological magnetic insulators, and topological metals.
In this talk, I will review how to define and differentiate these various topological states and associated symmetries. Necessary ingredients to achieve topological insulators and topological crystalline insulators will be discussed. Then theoretical and experimental efforts in searching for such novel materials and how to design new artificial superlattices will be presented.
