Carbon and oxygen are two important elements for the existence of live on our planet. While the reaction paths for producing these two elements in stars are well known their cross sections in stellar environments still have considerable uncertainties. I will discuss the status of measuring these reactions in the laboratory and report on some new attempts utilizing bubble chambers developed for dark matter searches.
