CIFAR Quantum Materials Summer School 2016

Participants in the summer school will be staying at the Toronto Marriott Bloor Yorkville Hotel. Bookings will be done by CIFAR, you should not book your own room as it will not be reimbursed. Accommodation will not be provided to those who live in the Toronto/Hamilton areas, or who can commute to Toronto within reason. Participants will be staying two to a room with roommate assignments following the requests given on the registration form where possible. If no preferred roommate was indicated, the organizers will select one for you.
Standard check-in for those attending the summer school will occur Sunday afternoon/evening, April 24th. Check-out for those attending only the summer school will be on Wednesday morning, April 27th, while those also attending the main meeting are expected to check out on Saturday April 30th. If your intended arrival/departure times differ from these, please indicate it on the registration form when you register, or contact the organizers to update your information.
All summer school and main meeting activities aside from the group dinners will take place at the hotel.Getting to the hotel from the airport:
By Train:
Follow the signs for the UP Union Pearson Express station located in Terminal 1 (if you're arriving in Terminal 3 there's a Link Train service that connects Terminals 3 and 1). Take the UP Express to Union Station, it's $12 one-way ($24 return). At Union Station follow the signs for the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) subway station. Parts of Union Station are currently under renovation so finding your way around can be a bit tricky. At the subway station take the Yonge-University Line towards Finch. This is the only subway line operating from Union Station so the only thing you have to worry about is making sure you're going in the right direction, towards Finch. The subway fare is $3.25. Get off at Bloor-Yonge Station. Exit the station onto Bloor Street. The hotel is just outside the subway station, at 90 Bloor Street East.
By Bus/subway:
Follow the signs for public transport (or ground transportation). Find the TTC 192 Airport Rocket stop. In Terminal 1 this is located at Ground Level, second curb, Column R4 and at Terminal 3 it's located at Arrivals Level, third curb, Column C12 (see the map at the bottom of this page). The fare is $3.25 and the drivers only take coins, no notes or cards (tokens can be purchased in the terminal). Take the bus all the way to it's last stop, Kipling subway station. Board the subway (there is only one line and it only goes in one direction from this station). Take the subway to Bloor-Yonge station. Exit the station onto Bloor Street. The hotel is just outside the subway station, at 90 Bloor Street East.
