The concepts of linear momentum, impulse and conservation of momentum can be used to analyze and understand an incredibly wide variety of real-world problems. I will describe several applications of these concepts, including to rocket propulsion and deep space exploration, to boxing and woodpeckers, to mass extinctions and to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
