Title: Neutrinos – The X-files of Particle Physics
Speaker: Dr. Kai Zuber – Dresden University
Institute:
Location: ABB 102
Description:
Neutrinos are still the big mystery of particle physics. These strange particles have several unique features and does barely interact. The latter feature makes experiments very difficult. However, in the last decade dramatic progress has been made by establishing a non-vanishing rest mass of the neutrino. The experimental observations leading to this breakthrough will be presented and the current picture of neutrinos masses and mixing will be explained. Based on that the major open questions will be discussed including an outlook into future activities.
