Title: New Ideas for Dark Energy
Speaker: Marc Kamionkowski
Institute: Johns Hopkins University
Location: ABB 102
Description:
Theorists are still trying to understand the new physics driving the accelerated cosmic expansion discovered in 1998. Einstein’s cosmological constant does the trick, but the value of that cosmological constant is 120 orders of magnitude smaller than unity, something unpalatable to many theorists. In this talk I will review this problem and then discuss a possible resolution inspired by string theory.
