Title: Coherent Chemistry with Ultracold Atoms and Molecules
Abstract:
Starting from a general look at ultracold physics, we will look in detail at the physics behind achieving ultracold molecules. Working at ultracold temperatures affects chemistry by exaggerating the most complex part of the collision. Building from these basics, we’ll discuss coherence during chemical reactions. This coherence gives rise to resonant tuning of chemical reaction rates by a factor of 1000 in our recent work. We also give a simple model of chemical resonances in ultracold systems. Finally, we’ll see how a collection of resonances can be used to learn about the short-range dynamics of the reaction that are otherwise inaccessible.
