Title: Searching for Unconventional Superconductors
Abstract:
Superconductivity has many applications including magnetic resonance imaging, magnetic levitation, particle accelerators and recently as qubits for quantum computation. Since the discovery of high-temperature superconductivity in the late 1980’s there has been a renaissance in the search for new superconductors. Many of these new superconductors have unconventional properties, ranging from high transition temperatures, superconducting states which break crystalline and/or time-reversal symmetry, or are topological in nature. These unconventional properties may be especially valuable for future applications. I will describe our recent efforts to discover new (or forgotten) superconductors and how we search for unconventional behavior.
